چکیده

The amount of suspended sediment transported from rivers to the ocean fluctuates over time, with a substantial increase occurring during storm events. This surge in poses numerous challenges coastal areas, highlighting importance accurately assessing load address these issues. In this study, we developed and experimentally verified novel method for suspended-sediment-discharge quantification estuaries coasts using underwater imaging. Specifically, red clay samples different particle sizes were introduced into separate tanks containing clean water. After adequate mixing, concentration, size, turbidity, water quality measured analyzed LISST-200x EXO2 Multiparameter Sonde sensors. To maintain constant lighting conditions, camera box was created filming. Based on experimental results, turbidity–concentration relationship formula derived. proposed regression equation revealed that between turbidity estimated suspended-sediment concentration significantly affected by prediction results underestimated under high-concentration conditions. Using blue, green, gray band values, multiple model estimating concentrations developed; its predictions better than those obtained relationship. Following efficiency improvements through additional approaches considering underwater-image filming conditions characteristics actual streams, estuaries, coasts, could be an easily usable technique sediment-discharge estimation, helping sediment-related issues regions.

Sediment fingerprinting to determine the source of suspended sediment in a southern Piedmont stream.

Thousands of stream miles in the southern Piedmont region are impaired because of high levels of suspended sediment. It is unclear if the source is upland erosion from agricultural sources or bank erosion of historic sediment deposited in the flood plains between 1830 and 1930 when cotton farming was extensive. The objective of this study was to determine the source of high stream suspended sed...

Estimating suspended sediment concentrations in turbid coastal waters of the Santa Barbara Channel with SeaWiFS

A technique is presented for estimating suspended sediment concentrations of turbid coastal waters with remotely sensed multi-spectral data. The method improves upon many standard techniques, since it incorporates analyses of multiple wavelength bands (four for Sea-viewingWide Field of view Sensor (SeaWiFS)) and a nonlinear calibration, which produce highly accurate results (expected errors are...

an algorithm for estimating suspended sediment concentrations in the coastal waters of india using remotely sensed reflectance and its application to coastal environments

this study presents an empirical relationship of suspended sediment concentrations (sscs) inthe coastal waters, which is derived from the conventional methods, to radiometer remote sensing reflectance values (rrs) and satellite data in coastal waters of kerala. an algorithm is then developed to utilize both in situ sscs measured from conventional methods and rrs values. this algorithm is valida...

Non-destructive Image Analysis to Determine Suspended Sediment Size Distribution Characteristics under Varying Flow Conditions, Cazenovia Creek, Ny

Recent studies suggest that suspended sediment in rivers may move predominantly as floes rather than as individual (discrete) particles. Research on flocculation has been facilitated by improved analytical technologies, including image analysis. Because image analysis is a relatively new analytical approach, there is limited information on quality assurance/quality control (QAlQC) procedures. N...

Densimetric Monitoring of Suspended-sediment Concentrations, Northeastern Georgia

Differential pressure transducers can be used to monitor the suspended-sediment concentration in a water column. Suspended sediments with densities greater than water increase the fluid density, which is determined by measuring the fluid pressure change between two depths. Lewis and Rasmussen (1999) used a densimetric technique under controlled conditions to determine suspended-sediment concent...
